TheGundogTrainer.co.uk Expectations of Training Page

TheGundogTrainer believes that if you undertake training, follow the advice given and apply the methods learned, you can at the very least expect that your puppy or young dog will :-

Heel

Sit

Stay

Recall ( i.e. come to you when required )....and you will begin to develop an understanding of :-

Eye contact

Body language

Use of voice

If you progress beyond basic training, you can also expect that your dog will :-

Retrieve dummies to hand

Enter water when directed ( swim )

Be capable of being sent back, left and right and stopped at distance by a combination of  whistle and hand signals.

If you progress into advanced training, you can also expect that your dog will :-

Retrieve game to hand

Be capable of being handled in water

Jump obstacles at distance on command

Be capable of being handled silently at distance with hand signals only

Hunting Training

If you have a Spaniel, HPR, Pointer or Setter, you can also expect that your dog will 'quarter' or 'hunt' a good pattern with complexity increasing with experience.
